What is BaZi?

BaZi is a symbolic map of your birth time, used for reflection and self-understanding.

BaZi (八字, Bā Zì) means “Eight Characters”. Your birth time is cut into four pillars (year, month, day, hour), and each pillar is written with two characters. Imagine the chart as a snapshot of the natural atmosphere when you were born.

Its roots lie in ancient Chinese cosmology. The system is associated with Li Xuzhong (Tang dynasty, three pillars) and later Xu Ziping (Song dynasty, who added the hour).
